Nakeya T. Fields, LCSW, PPSE, Registered Play Therapist (LCS 25754/RPT S1916) is a licensed clinical social worker that utilizes talk psychotherapy, play, art, music, aromatherapy, mindfulness, yoga and movement therapy in her practice as a mental health provider. Nakeya received a BA in Communication, a Master’s in Social Work with a concentration in children & families/public child welfare & a Pupil Personnel Services Credential in school social work and child and attendance from the University of Southern California in 2001, 2005 and 2008, respectively.
Nakeya is a Registered Play Therapist – Supervisor and a certified field instructor and clinical supervisor. Nakeya is also certified in Mini Yogis Yoga for Kids yoga, and certificated as a trauma informed yoga therapist and enjoys facilitating yoga individual or group sessions and developing programs for school-aged children and their families.
Nakeya has worked with survivors of abuse: sexual assault, domestic violence, child sexual, physical and emotional abuse and has extensive experience working with high risk populations. She has worked with multiple populations including persons in crisis (such as those managing suicidal/homicidal ideation, psychosis, and Major Depressive Disorder).
Nakeya and her team aim to assist clients in managing the social/emotional disturbances that occur throughout the life span by providing innovative counseling and assessment services via contracts with local school districts and community agencies.
In addition to advocating and supporting for the wellness and improved health of others, Nakeya is also very passionate about educating her fellow mental health professionals about their opportunities in entrepreneurship. Nakeya is the author of The MHE Book, Mental Health Entrepreneur – Gain Freedom and Escape the 9-5 Grind:How to Treat Mental Illness and Monetize Your Expertise.
Further, Nakeya acts as a program development and staffing consultant to develop progressive health and wellness programs that incorporate mindfulness, play and creative modalities within educational, corporate and community driven organizations. She also conducts mental health/adoptions assessments on a contract basis, provides in-service seminars and is available for speaking engagements and consultation.
