03 Nov The Best Advice
I love my friends to death. We have the best time together. When I want to go out to one of my favorite amusement parks, I’ll call up some of my buddies and we’ll plan a trip that’s always lots of fun. If I want to hit the town, I know that I can text one of my girls and she’ll be there in a heartbeat to join me on my night out. Or if I just want to stay in and watch some TV, there are people in my life that I know who will be more than happy to sit right there with me as we enjoy looking at mind-numbing shows.
As much as I love having my friends around for the good times, I also can sleep soundly at night knowing that I can count on them during the bad times because they give the best advice. They’re there for you through breakups, career woes, housing problems, bill issues, fights, existential crisis, and so much more. Because you spend a lot of your time with them, they know you pretty well. And because they know you well, this makes them the perfect people to go to when you need to figure out something about your life. They can give you incite that an acquaintance could never give you. There have been many times throughout my life when I have turned to my buddies for advice and help. I can always count on them to help me sort out my problems during times of trouble. I know they love me, and they don’t want to see me hurting, which is why they are so quick to send me aid when I need it.
Sometimes we can be really hard on ourselves. When we don’t see results and when we keep messing up over and over again, we may feel like we’re complete failures. In that moment, it’s too hard for us to see anything other than bad, but our pals can help us look past that. They’ll let us know that we aren’t complete failures. Just because we’re having some setbacks doesn’t mean that everything that we touch is going to end up working against us. Bad days don’t last forever, and we’ll see good times soon enough if we’re just patient and willing to keep working hard to get what we want. Words like this can be just what you need to help get you through that difficult time, which is why it’s so amazing to have someone there who will give you this extra boost.
Unfortunately, our friends can’t always be there. While they may be there for us a lot of the time, they do have lives of their own and they can’t just come running every time that we need them. When they’re not around, you need to make sure that you can have somebody really important that you can turn to.
Positive thinker, you have to be able to give good advice to yourself. You’re friends know you well, but there’s no one out there who knows you better than you know yourself. That’s why you’re ultimately the best person to go to when you need some advice. You know what you want out of life, and if you take the time, you can figure out a way to make the things that you want to happen happen. And if you need help figuring out what your next steps should be, try and imagine what your friends would tell you in this situation and then say it to yourself. You can also try thinking about the advice that you would give to a friend in this same predicament. You know that you love this friend, and you want to see them happy and not in pain, so think of something that you could tell to them so that they can move on to something better. And then once you know what you would say to them, tell it to yourself.
So yes friends are good to have around during the bad moments in your life, but you also have to be willing to pick up the pieces for yourself. Don’t be afraid to rely on yourself because no one will have your back like you.
